In honor of Filipino American History Month, the Filipino Community Center at 94-428 Mokuola St. in Waipahu, is preparing for a special festival at its monthly "Sundays at FilCom."
The FilAm History Fest runs from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with informational booths by Filipino organizations, as well as talks, music, dance, food and storytelling.
Activities include a Talk Story session, "The Past & The Future," in the ballroom from 4 to 5 p.m., and for keiki, the Filipino Association of University Women is presenting its annual ANAK, a storytelling and crafts program.
The event is put on by the Filipino-American Historical Society of Honolulu (FAHSOH) for the purpose of educating and networking. Filipino organizations are invited to participate at no cost (register at fahsoh.org), and will be provided with a display table. Participating groups will be documented by FAHSOH and included in its digital archive project. The archives enable FAHSOH to store the history of the Filipino experience in Hawaii for generations to come.
